Overview of Activity

Inclusive Curriculum Practices:

This workshop explores strategies to integrate arts activities into the day-to-day educational program of your school, so that the arts are experienced as core learning and not as extracurricular or add-on activities. The partner linkages between schools, arts institutions and common organisations create an exciting new synergy.

The arts are a function of life itself, and the process of making art – both creative and re-creative – can give insight into all other areas of learning.

Learning in, through and about dance, drama, media, music and visual arts provides students with multiple pathways to express and communicate ideas and feelings. 

Outcomes of the Workshop

• Provide learning experiences and resources that reflect and represent a range of cultures, locations, communities and perspectives.

• Ensure learning experiences and resources do not inhibit any students from having access to and participating in the arts.

• Provide learning experiences that develop students' acceptance of, and respect for, the diversity of people's intellectual, physical and creative abilities.

• Create physical and social conditions that support the wellbeing of students and others while they are participating in learning experiences and demonstrating learning outcomes.

• Encourage consultation, interaction and co-operation between schools.

• Develop specific strategies that promote inclusive curriculum practices.
