| The night is dark and stormy. The jester, his daughter, her seducer and the assassin have each played their part and now their tragic tale of sex, violence, betrayal and revenge is about to reach its gut-wrenching conclusion.
Filled with memorable arias and ensembles, this striking production speaks to us with breathtaking clarity. Verdi’s masterwork is powerful, passionate and unforgettable. Australian baritone Michael Lewis’ outstanding performance as the intense central character, Rigoletto, with celebrated Australian soprano Emma Matthews making her company and role debut as the ill-fated Gilda, will transform this superb Fellini-esque production which has become one of Australia’s most popular.
