Season 2010 – Opera Magnifico!

Add a little magic to May with the help of our opera love potion and Donizetti’s true romantic comedy, The Elixir of Love. This popular and patriotic production by Simon Phillips, set in the Australian outback with all its colour and vibrancy, is the perfect complement to Donizetti’s intoxicating score which contains some of the most wonderful melodies in opera.

Be part of our plot in July to keep a beautiful, charming and wealthy widow from marrying a foreigner with Lehár’s light-hearted and whimsical operetta, The Merry Widow. This sparkling new production makes its world première on the Conservatorium stage with director Anna Sweeny and designer Simone Romaniuk joining forces to make this witty and enchanting “frock” opera a must-see.

Travel with us to Egypt in October and remember to pack a box of tissues as we unveil opera’s most spectacular work, Aida. This new exotic production by Graeme Murphy has all the punch and pageantry to match Verdi’s thrilling choruses and memorable arias. Be there for its triumphant return to Brisbane.
